  • Standard speed without Ethernet

Standard speed is able to carry definition up to 1080p, while high speed can handle beyond 1080p. The price difference is not that much, so personally I will go for high speed HDMI cables for better visual experience.

HDMI speed with Ethernet is the new version of HDMI, adds a bi-directional IP data channel to allow devices to send and receive data at full Ethernet speeds, up to 100Mbps. Allowing a wired or wireless Ethernet connection on one device to be propagated to other devices. This almost eliminates the need for a separate Ethernet cable and enables web-capable devices to share their internet connection with other HDMI gadgets. For example, newer devices, primarily HDTVs and Blu-ray disc players can connect to the internet offering a wide variety of interactive possibilities.

What else metrics of HDMI cables to consider?

There are other new features of HDMI cables nowadays. You will see ARC –Audio Return Channel frequently. That means a signal can be sent from the HDTV to the audio /video receiver, generally, the user would get greater theater sound than the normal HDMI cables.
